Virtual Work Team was founded in 2006 by Shilonda Downing; who worked full-time while freelancing part-time as a recruiter. Shilonda decided to add to the services she offered and create a website. She understood the value and credibility that creating an online presence for her entrepreneurial endeavors would bring.

She then partnered with other stellar and experienced entrepreneurs; all of whom had also worked in the Corporate arena.
