Has Pinterest been of benefit to you?

When it comes to social media, I’ve decided that Virtual Work Team will use what works  for our business. While we’ll always implement any new social networking page on behalf of   a client, the experts advise that you shouldn’t try to join every single social outlet there is. Instead, you should focus on what works for your business or brand. I’ve therefore decided for now, to stick to what I call “The Big Four” Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN and YouTube (watch for new videos this month). They work best for us and we’re very pleased with the results of being on those sites. As a business owner, you want to make sure you’re not only keeping all your social media sites current, but that they are providing the exposure your business or brand needs.

With that being said, I have an open mind to what’s new and poppin’ for business owners when it comes to social media. I’m sincerely looking into Pinterest because of what one report has said about this website. A study was done that indicated the Pinterest sends more new traffic to websites than Google+. Here’s the direct quote from the article: “Pinterest drove more referral traffic to sites in January than Google+, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn and MySpace all combined” read the article here. So have you used Pinterest? Follow Me on Pinterest Have you noticed that it’s of benefit to your business? How often do you pin something there? Inquiring minds want to know. Please leave your comments on the blog and feel free to also answer us Twitter @virtualworkteam and on Facebook; I’ll respond to all answers personally. Thanks!

P.S. Here’s a video to help you get started on Pinterest and to learn about using the Pinterest Gift Store and even Pinning Videos. Click here to view.

  1. Shilonda,

I have not ventured into Pinterest. I know that’s the “talk around the water cooler” right now. I am focusing on G+ and FB (in addition to keeping Twitter and Linkedin going).

I’m going to see how it goes with Pinterest, it’s hard to keep up with every new SM platform. Especially when you what to publish quality information and not just “stuff” for the sake of publishing something.

    Thank you – Theresa 🙂

    1. Hi Theresa:

I’m very glad you chimed in on this subject. I’ve been trying to decide whether or not to use Pinterest, considering it’s success rate in driving traffic back to ones website, however, a recent article I read about Pinterest modifying urls without letting it’s users know, so they could make a profit has me a bit more cautious. The article is on the “Mashable” website and linked here, if you’d like to read it: Is Pinterest Pocketing Revenue by Tracking User-Generated Pins? Thanks again so much for giving your thoughts!

  2. I’ve used Pinterest, but mainly for my own personal use. However, I have been able to sneak in some photos from my clients. You really need to have some great images however to help your brand do well in Pinterest. I do agree with sticking to the big 4—we haven’t used Google+ much. Still not a fan of the interface. Maybe because I’ve become so used to Facebook. Facebook also feels much more of a community to me than G+.

    1. Hey Daniel!

Most entrepreneurs know they should stick to what works and not try to chase after or sign up for every new shiny program that comes out, but there are a few that I have to remind of this. 🙂 I noticed a lot of entrepreneurs aren’t into Google+ either, because it’s just not working for them. In fact there are a lot of big brands that are only using Twitter and Facebook, but as I said in the article, I agree with you that the Big 4 including: YouTube and LinkedIN work really well for us. I may try others later, but not right now. I’m glad to have your input on Pinterest as well. Thanks so much for chiming in!

  3. Lately alot of my business friends from FB are using this platform. I admit it is addicting! I do like the fact that you can get to know alot about the personal side of your favorite business gurus. Makes one a bit more “close” if that makes sense. I hear there are great ways to use it for business, but have not ventured that way yet.
Thanks for the great article on this.

    1. Thanks Annette!

I’m really glad you’ve chimed in on Pinterest and how it’s being used. I’m also glad you appreciated our article. I too want to learn more about Pinterest for “BUSINESS”. I know if you’re in a creative field like photography, fashion, etc. that Pinterest can be a real draw, but I’d love to know how those in the service industries use Pinterest. Let’s keep the discussion going on this! Thanks again!
