Keeping your work in order

ToDoListsThere are things you can do to get on the right track as we are in the final month of the 3rd quarter of the year. As someone who’s self employed or if you’re freelancing, you’ll want to be sure all your work and client/customer data is in good order before year end. There are so many things you can do now to help you prepare for the final quarter of the year. Even if you’ve been a bit off in the past, these simple tips will allow you to keep your work in order, feel less stress and stay on top of the minor things that can build up:

  • Take time to get your receipts in order. Make sure you separate your personal receipts from your business receipts. If you need tips specifically for work-from-home entrepreneurs listen to our interview with a CPA who has worked with entrepreneurs for decades. Listen here.
  • On a daily or weekly basis, enter your financial transactions into the accounting software program of your choice. This will make tax time less stressful for you and your CPA.
  • Hire a virtual assistant for an hour a week to organize your email. Provide them with a list of canned responses to answer the FAQs. This will cut out a lot of time sorting and answering emails. One of our team members would be happy to do this for you. Contact us here.
  • Lastly, keep the important paper work you need (i.e. tax info) in a safe place and in good order. However, scale down on everything else. A clean and clear work place or space can go hand in hand with a clean and clear vision for your business. Hopefully these tips will help you with keeping your work in order.
